Camperships are made possible by Scouting fundraisers such as Friends of Scouting, product sales; and by many supportive benefactors.
All Scouts should experience the "wonderful world of camping" that Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting has to offer. The Greater Los Angeles Area Council is committed to ensuring Scouts have the opportunity to attend summer resident camp or Cub Scout day camp, and as such, we provide partial camperships to those in need to help them realize the "Outing in Scouting". All units are encouraged to participate in the annual popcorn sale and camp cards fundraiser to help Scouts earn money necessary to attend summer resident camp or Cub Scout day camp. Camperships are available to GLAAC Scouts attending GLAAC camps in the current calendar year.
The Council Campership Committee is concerned about the individual need and the unit's evaluation of the Scout for whom the request is made.
Campership applications for summertime camping should be received in the council office fully completed; and by extenuating circumstance to be considered for awarding. Applications will be reviewed by the Council Campership Committee shortly after the dates described; and by extenuating circumstances as well. Once applications are reviewed as approved or denied, the unit/reservation contact person will be notified via email with an updated statement as applicable and notice sent out to each family describing the award amount.
